Meet Farrah Christian, FNP-C

Founder of Maverick Medical Care

Farrah Christian is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and the founder of Maverick Medical Care, a virtual practice dedicated to helping patients uncover the root causes of weight gain, fatigue, and hormonal imbalance. Her approach blends evidence-based medicine with functional and integrative strategies to deliver truly personalized care.
But Maverick Medical Care wasn’t built from textbooks alone—it was built from experience.
In 2017, Farrah was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. Like many patients, she was given a diagnosis but little explanation—no clear understanding of why it happened or how to address the underlying inflammation driving it.
Just one year later, during one of the most stressful periods of her life, she experienced a life-altering health event: a brainstem bleed caused by a cavernous malformation. She was told it “just happened.” But that answer didn’t sit right.
Driven to find answers, Farrah began researching the deeper connections between inflammation, oxidative stress, hormones, and overall health. What she discovered changed everything—many of the root causes contributing to her condition had been overlooked, and potentially modifiable.
That experience also led to early menopause, bringing on a new set of symptoms and challenges. When she sought help, she was told she wasn’t a candidate for hormone replacement therapy. When she pursued alternative care, she found herself on treatment that wasn’t even guided by proper lab testing—and once again, she wasn’t getting answers or results.
After being failed by a fragmented healthcare system, Farrah made a decision:

She would become the provider she wished she had.

Today, Farrah specializes in hormone optimization, weight loss, and metabolic health, helping patients who feel dismissed, stuck, or unheard finally get real answers. Her method focuses on identifying root causes—whether that’s hormonal imbalance, insulin resistance, thyroid dysfunction, nutrient deficiencies, or chronic stress—and creating a plan that actually works.
Through her signature approach, patients don’t just receive prescriptions—they receive partnership, education, and a clear path forward.
At Maverick Medical Care, Farrah’s mission is simple:

To help you feel like yourself again—by addressing what others have overlooked.

At this time, we do not accept insurance. We may be working on this in the future.
What medications to you prescribe?
This depends on each patient. Common medications prescribed include phentermine (TX and OK patients only), Contrave, Qsymia, Saxenda, Wegovy, and Zepbound. Diabetic medications such as Ozempic and Mounjaro are not prescribed unless you are diabetic. Due to supply shortages of Wegovy and Zepbound, compounded medications such as semaglutide or tirzepatide may be prescribed. If requested, a certificate of analysis of the compounded medication will be provided to the patient.
What is the cost of the medications?
This depends on each medication. If your insurance covers weight loss medications, your insurance company determines the copay amount. If your insurance does not cover weight loss medications or if you are not insured, we will work with you to provide the most affordable option for you. Generally speaking, you will not pay more than $350 per month for your medication.
Is there a BMI requirement?
You must have a BMI of 25 to start weight loss medication.
What happens when I reach my goal weight?
You will begin the maintenance program with a lower dose of medication. It is recommended to stay on the maintenance dose for at least 3 months. You do not have to stop taking the medication if you feel like you would benefit from taking it long term.
Can I take weight loss medications while breastfeeding?
Unfortunately, these medications can pass to your baby through breast milk, and we are not able to prescribe these medications until your baby is fully weaned. Until then, focus on eating a healthy diet and exercising 30 minutes per day!

About Our Services

Medical Weight Loss

Our approach is through a comprehensive, root-cause lens—recognizing that struggles with weight are often driven by underlying metabolic and hormonal factors rather than lack of effort. Issues such as insulin resistance, thyroid dysfunction, low iron levels, chronic stress, and hormonal imbalances can all impair metabolism, increase fat storage, and make weight loss resistant to diet and exercise alone. While GLP-1 medications like semaglutide or tirzepatide can be effective tools for appetite control and blood sugar regulation, they are not a standalone solution. Sustainable results require addressing nutrition, muscle mass, stress, sleep, and long-term habits alongside medical treatment. By combining advanced lab testing, personalized lifestyle guidance, and targeted therapies, Maverick Medical Care helps patients overcome weight loss plateaus, improve metabolic function, and achieve lasting, maintainable results.

Hormone Replacement Therapy

We address the full spectrum of symptoms caused by hormonal imbalance—such as fatigue, brain fog, weight gain, low libido, mood changes, and poor sleep—even when standard lab results appear “normal.” Rather than relying on broad population-based ranges, the approach focuses on identifying optimal hormone levels through comprehensive testing, including estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, thyroid function, metabolic markers, and detailed cortisol analysis using saliva testing to assess daily stress patterns. Bioidentical hormone therapy (BHRT) is used to more naturally restore balance, with treatment plans tailored to each patient’s symptoms, physiology, and goals. By integrating hormone optimization with nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle support, Maverick Medical Care takes a root-cause, whole-body approach that not only improves energy, mood, and metabolic function but also supports sustainable weight loss and long-term health.
